Textured Slime

"Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August."

—Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty

The summer is in full swing and we like to go out and enjoy these sunny days!

We think slime is one of the best activities to take outside. Endless entertainment and not having to clean sticky substances out of the carpet!

Slime recipe:

  • 1/2 Cup of Elmer’s Washable Clear Glue or White Glue

  • 1/4 Cup of Liquid Starch (Sta-Flo is the best)

  • 1/2 Cup of Water

Slime Creation:

  • STEP 1:  In a bowl mix 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup of glue.

  • STEP 2: Add color, scent, and/or items to create textures.

  • STEP 3: Pour in 1/4 cup of liquid starch. You will see the slime immediately start to form. Keep stirring until you have a gooey blob of slime. The liquid should be completely mixed in.

This one we added soap and essential oils...

Here we added water beads...

Here we tried bean bag filling...

It made for fun play and interesting talks about why they thought these looked and felt different. And of course we had to let the kids learn about some of those concepts that make the slime. Here are some fun books we used to accompany this slimy fun!
